Séguret (84)
Seguret is listed as one of the prettiest French villages. Houses make the village naturally looks like a Nativity Scene. The word Seguret comes from segur or sure, which itself comes from the word securitas (security).
Resting on the last foothills of the Alps, the village overlooks the vineyard-covered plain of Comtat Venaissin and the Rhone valley. Paved streets and postern doors (small doors built in fortifications) bordered by old houses give Seguret a medieval atmosphere.
Enjoy a walk through the town, and take a look at the Fontaine des Mascarons. You can admire a magnificent panoramic view from the ruins of the ancient castle.
During your stroll, you will discover:
- The chapel Sainte Thecle
- The 12th century Porte Reynier
- The 14th century belfry
- The Saint Denis church, built from the 10th to the 12th century
- The postern-doors street
- The Huguenots door
- The17th century Fontaine des Mascarons
An excellent AOC wine is also produced here: Cotes du Rhone Seguret.
