64nd Theater Festival in Avignon
From 07/07/2010 to 27/07/2010
The Avignon Festival was created by Jean Vilar in 1947. It is one of the oldest and most famous theatre festivals in the world. The Festival presents outstanding contemporary creations in all the performing arts during three entire weeks in July. For 2010, Festival directors Vincent Baudriller and Hortense Archambault have chosen as guest artists director Christoph Marthaler and author Olivier Cadiot. The Avignon Festival is the place for meeting new ideas and exploring contrasting sensibilities, origins, languages, esthetics and generations. Over 40 shows in twenty different venues, ranging from tiny chapels which seat 50 to the legendary Honour Courtyard at the Palace of the Popes, with 2000 places. The complete program is now available. Benefit from the special PASS price at the monuments and museums in Avignon and Villeneuve upon presentation of your ticket to any Avignon Festival performance.
