The Fringe Festival
Over 800 different theatre troupes, nearly 1000 shows. From every region in France and from the world over. One immense stage with every kind of artistic expression, representing all the performing art genres in hundreds of different venues throughout Avignon. In 2009, the Festival Off lost the founding father, André Benedetto, which also meant the loss of an outstanding author to the theatre world, and a great Avignon personality lost the city of Avignon. There is every kind of performing arts in the Off: theatre, readings, café-theatre, circus, dance, music, street theatre, classical texts, modern texts, contemporary for every kind of audience, every age.
